Original: gaetano armao
Italian investigators have requested the arrest of Gaetano Armao, former vice-president of the Sicily regional government, in a corruption case. The request, reported by Il Sole 24 ORE, puts the Sicilian regional administration back at the centre of Italy's political debate, with attention focused on the alleged misconduct during his time in office and any fallout for the regional government.
Why now: News of an arrest request against a senior former regional official in a corruption investigation is fresh and politically sensitive.
