Max Verstappen has explained his decision to sit out much of second practice at a Formula 1 grand prix weekend and urged Red Bull fans to stay cautious about the team's form. The Dutch driver indicated limited running should not be read as a sign of pace, warning that judging competitiveness from Friday sessions alone can be misleading ahead of qualifying and the race.

Why now: Fans are scrutinising Red Bull's early pace this weekend and Verstappen's limited FP2 running fuelled speculation about the car's true competitiveness.
