Indian food processors urge serving-size nutrition labels
Original: AIFPA Backs FOPNL, Seeks Serving-Size Nutrition Labels
The All India Food Processors' Association has come out in support of the Front-of-Package Nutrition Labelling system and is pushing for nutrition information to be presented per serving size. The industry body's position comes as India weighs how packaged foods should display health details such as calories, fat, sugar and salt. Support from processors matters because their cooperation is seen as key to any labelling rollout.
Why now: India is actively debating front-of-package nutrition labelling rules, and industry backing shapes the regulatory outcome.
