Cincinnati awards nearly $1 million in grants to residents fighting climate change
Original: Cincinnati gives out nearly $1 million to residents fighting climate change
The city of Cincinnati is distributing close to $1 million to local residents to support projects that address climate change. The program puts funding directly in the hands of community members rather than institutions, and it has drawn attention as a model of locally driven climate action in the Midwest.
Why now: Direct municipal climate grants to individual residents are unusual, making Cincinnati's program notable to climate and local government observers.
