Ethiopia's widening war threatens the Horn of Africa
Original: Ethiopia’s widening war threatens the Horn of Africa
Ethiopia's expanding conflict is raising alarm that instability could spill across the Horn of Africa, a region already strained by the war in neighbouring Sudan, tensions with Eritrea and instability in Somalia. Analysts at the Clingendael institute warn the fighting is widening and risk drawing in neighbouring states, with consequences for regional security and Red Sea shipping.
Why now: Fears that Ethiopia's internal conflict could destabilise the wider Horn of Africa region.
