Trail Blazers fire broadcaster hours after hiring over old posts
Original: Trail Blazers broadcaster fired hours after hiring for past racist, sexist social media posts - The Athletic
The Portland Trail Blazers dismissed a broadcaster just hours after announcing his hiring, after past racist and sexist social media posts came to light. The Athletic reported the rapid reversal, which the team made following immediate backlash over the resurfaced comments. The episode has drawn attention to how thoroughly teams vet on-air hires before public announcements.
Why now: The unusually swift firing, within hours of the hiring announcement, made the story spread widely.
