Trail Blazers fire broadcaster hours after hiring over old posts
Original: Trail Blazers broadcaster fired hours after hiring for past racist, sexist social media posts
The Portland Trail Blazers dismissed a broadcaster just hours after announcing his hiring, after old social media posts containing racist and sexist content came to light. The team reversed the decision quickly, and the abrupt about-face has drawn attention to vetting practices around media hires in professional sports.
Why now: The unusually fast reversal by an NBA team over resurfaced offensive posts is striking and sparked wide discussion.
