Original: Sudan’s jailed Omar al-Bashir seeks treatment abroad: lawyer

Lawyers for Omar al-Bashir, Sudan's ousted former president, say he is seeking medical treatment outside the country. Al-Bashir, who ruled Sudan for three decades before being removed in 2019, has been held in prison facing charges related to his rule. The request comes as Sudan remains gripped by war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces.

Why now: The deposed leader's fate is drawing renewed attention amid Sudan's ongoing civil war.
