Survey finds open Fediverse instances largely empty
Original: I checked 260+ Fediverse instances for open registration. The ones that open are empty. https:// philosophy.cafe/post/15
A user of the philosophy.cafe instance says they checked more than 260 Fediverse servers for open registration and found that the ones still accepting new sign-ups have little or no activity. The finding is being shared within the decentralized social network community, touching on ongoing debates about whether Mastodon and similar platforms are shrinking, consolidating into a few large servers, or simply closing their doors to newcomers.
Why now: It fuels current debate about the health and decline of the Fediverse and which instances remain viable.
