Activists prepare for ICE at polls despite administration's denials
Original: Trump administration says it has no plans for ICE officers at polls. Activists are preparing, anyway
The Trump administration says it has no plans to deploy ICE officers at polling places during elections, but immigrant rights activists are organizing monitoring efforts anyway. Community groups say they are preparing rapid-response networks and legal observers to respond if immigration agents appear near voting sites, reflecting persistent distrust despite official assurances.
Why now: Election-season fears about immigration enforcement intimidating voters are driving activists to organize even without official plans.
