French media report that beyond kamikaze drones, a new use of drones could transform how mortar fire is carried out on the battlefield. Drones are increasingly used to spot targets and adjust artillery and mortar strikes, a shift highlighted amid the war in Ukraine and growing military investment in drone technology across defence circles.
Why now: Drone warfare innovations, especially their role in guiding mortar and artillery fire, are a hot topic given the ongoing war in Ukraine.
