A co-pilot stabbed the captain of an aircraft, sending it into a steep 4,300-metre descent. A man on board took the controls and brought the plane down, saying he had learned flying basics from television programmes. The dramatic story is circulating widely in Japan, drawing attention to how the emergency was survived and questions about flight crew security screening.
Why now: The extraordinary detail that an untrained man saved a plane using skills learned from TV is capturing attention.
