Tony Abbott urges Australia to discuss war readiness over Taiwan
Original: Tony Abbott Calls for Australia-Taiwan War Readiness Talk
Former Australian prime minister Tony Abbott has called for Australia to hold serious discussions about its war readiness in the event of conflict over Taiwan. His remarks add to growing debate in Australia about how far the country should go in preparing for a possible Chinese move against Taiwan, and what role it should play alongside the United States.
Why now: Rising tensions between China and Taiwan are prompting prominent figures in allied countries to voice positions on defence readiness.
