Trail Blazers broadcaster fired over old racist posts
Original: Trail Blazers broadcaster fired for past racist, sexist social media posts
A Portland Trail Blazers broadcaster has been dismissed after past racist and sexist posts on social media resurfaced, The New York Times reports. The firing adds to a wider pattern of sports broadcasters facing consequences when offensive old online comments come to light, and it raises questions about vetting for on-air roles. The team has not detailed the circumstances of the discovery, and the broadcaster's identity remains unclear in available reporting.
Why now: Sports organisations are under scrutiny for accountability over offensive social media history among staff.
