Original: vladimir putin
Vladimir Putin has warned Western countries that Russia is prepared to use every weapon at its disposal to protect Kaliningrad, the Russian exclave bordered by NATO members Poland and Lithuania. The warning comes as tensions over the Baltic region continue to rise, and the remarks are drawing attention across the US, Canada and Sweden.
Why now: His threat to use any weapon to defend Kaliningrad escalates tensions with NATO at a sensitive moment in the Ukraine war.
