A Call for a Personal Computing Revolution

Original: Personal Computing 2.0: It's time for a personal computing revolution

An essay published on the Ideas blog of AI company Imbue argues that personal computing is due for a second revolution, calling for software and computers that genuinely serve individual users rather than large platforms. The piece argues current tools have drifted from the original vision of computing as an empowering, personal instrument, and it has sparked discussion among technologists about rethinking how everyday software is built and owned.

Why now: Growing anxiety about dependence on big tech platforms has renewed interest in visions of user-empowering personal computing.
