94-year-old Jewish barrister arrested over Palestine Action support
Original: 94-year-old Jewish barrister arrested for supporting Palestine Action https://www. aljazeera.com/video/newsfeed/2 026/10
A 94-year-old Jewish barrister has been arrested in the UK for publicly supporting Palestine Action, a group banned under UK terrorism legislation. The detention of someone of advanced age, and a Jewish legal professional, at a pro-Palestine demonstration has drawn widespread attention, with critics arguing the arrests highlight the sweeping reach of the UK's proscription laws and their impact on free speech and protest rights.
Why now: The arrest of a very elderly Jewish barrister under the UK's Palestine Action proscription rules is striking, fuelling ongoing debate over the ban and protest policing.
