Original: Kinnara Gagaku in Concert
The Kinnara Gagaku ensemble, known for performing Japanese court music, gave a concert presented in association with the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. Gagaku, one of the oldest continuous orchestral traditions in the world, remains a niche but respected art form, and events like this draw attention from musicians and audiences interested in early Japanese repertory and traditional instruments.
Why now: The ensemble's concert at UCLA's music school drew fresh interest in the rare and ancient gagaku tradition.
