West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan is suing the BBC for £150 million in damages over a Panorama documentary that levelled sexual misconduct allegations against him. Sullivan, one of English football's most prominent and frequently criticised club owners, is pursuing one of the largest libel claims against a British broadcaster in recent memory. The case pits the longtime West Ham chief against the BBC's flagship investigative strand, drawing attention from sports, legal and media observers alike.
Why now: A football club owner launching a massive defamation claim against the BBC is a major legal story combining sport, media and allegations of serious misconduct.
