Drones Strike Addis Ababa as Ethiopia Cuts Ties with Eritrea
Original: Drones Strike Ethiopia’s Capital as Country Severs Ties with Eritrea
Drone attacks hit Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa, shortly after the country announced it was severing diplomatic relations with Eritrea. The strikes mark a sharp escalation in tensions between the two neighbors, whose relations had deteriorated following the aftermath of the Tigray conflict. Details on casualties or who carried out the attacks remain limited, but the timing has drawn international attention to the risk of a wider conflict in the Horn of Africa.
Why now: The strikes occurred immediately after Ethiopia's announcement severing ties with Eritrea, making the timing highly newsworthy
