Energy-Efficiency Group Mocked for Backing Horse-Drawn Travel
Original: The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy Endorses Stagecoaches and Horse-Drawn Wagons
The American Enterprise Institute is criticizing the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, saying in a satirical column that the group's efficiency standards amount to endorsing stagecoaches and horse-drawn wagons over modern vehicles. The piece frames the council's approach as pushing policy so restrictive that it would roll back transportation to the pre-automobile era, reigniting debate over how far energy-efficiency rules should go.
Why now: A think tank's satirical attack on energy-efficiency policy has drawn attention in an ongoing debate over regulation of vehicles and appliances.
