Congress Ends Session Quietly as GOP Braces for Midterms
Original: Congress Leaves With a Whimper, as the G.O.P. Braces for Midterm Pain
The New York Times reports that Congress has wrapped up its session with little to show, leaving with 'a whimper' as Republicans prepare for potentially bruising midterm elections. The framing suggests the party in power faces an unpopular political environment heading into the elections, with lawmakers departing Washington without major last-minute accomplishments to carry home to voters.
Why now: Lawmakers have left Washington for the campaign stretch, and the midterm elections are approaching fast.
