Gambhir criticises Barsapara pitch as batting-only track
Original: ‘This is not cricket, this is only batting’: Gambhir slams Barsapara pitch
Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has criticised the pitch at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, saying 'This is not cricket, this is only batting.' He argued that a surface offering nothing to bowlers reduces the contest to one-dimensional batting and undermines the spirit of the game. His comments have fuelled debate over pitch preparation in Indian venues and the balance between bat and ball in modern cricket.
Why now: A prominent former player's blunt criticism of a match pitch has sparked debate about pitch quality and fair competition in cricket.
