Braves to use reliever Ray Kerr as opener in Wild Card Game 3

The Atlanta Braves plan to use reliever Ray Kerr as an opener for the deciding Game 3 of their National League Wild Card Series. Rather than a traditional starter, Kerr will open before handing off to the bullpen, a strategy teams sometimes turn to in elimination games. The move is drawing attention as a bold postseason decision with the Braves' season on the line.
Why now: The Braves are making an unusual bullpen-game choice in a win-or-go-home playoff game.
