Original: christoph kramer

Christoph Kramer, the 2014 World Cup-winning midfielder, is in the news on two fronts in Germany. Spiegel reports that Per Mertesacker is set to become the DFB's new managing director, with high expectations placed on the 2014 world champions' generation. Separately, WDR highlights Kramer's work as an author, with the Gladbach midfielder now publishing alongside his playing career.

Why now: The DFB appointing Per Mertesacker puts the spotlight on 2014 World Cup winners including Kramer, who is also drawing attention for his book.
