Argenteuil high school students blockade for equal opportunities
Original: [Article] Blocus au lycée Jean-Jaurès d'Argenteuil : « nous aussi, banlieusards, on a le droit à l'égalité des chances »
Students at the Jean-Jaurès high school in Argenteuil, north-west of Paris, have blockaded their school as part of the wave of protests sweeping French high schools demanding better study conditions. In a statement, the students say that as 'banlieue residents we also have the right to equal opportunities', framing the movement as a demand for the same educational resources and prospects as students elsewhere in France.
Why now: High school blockades over study conditions are spreading across France, and the students' equal-opportunity statement from a banlieue school has struck a chord.
