Trump administration marks two years of expanded executive power

The Trump administration is being described as having spent two years asserting broad executive powers and privileges. Critics point to its tariff impositions, mass deportations, deployment of the National Guard in American cities, halting of clean-energy projects, sanctions on law firms and universities, dismissals of civil servants and inspectors general, and other unilateral actions as evidence of an unusually aggressive use of presidential authority.
Why now: The administration's two-year mark is prompting critics to catalogue what they see as sweeping and contested uses of executive power.
