63-year-old caught after cashing stolen scratch cards at nearby shop
Original: tabaccheria
A 63-year-old woman in Vicenza, Italy, has been reported to authorities after allegedly stealing around 3,000 euros worth of Gratta e Vinci scratch cards from a tobacconist's shop. She then went to a nearby lottery outlet to cash them in all at once, but was identified when staff recognised the serial numbers on the cards.
Why now: The unusual and clumsy way the theft unravelled has made the story widely shared in Italian news.
