IDF names Gaza Division intelligence officer on duty during Oct. 7
Original: IDF's Gaza Division intelligence officer on Oct. 7 named as army plans ouster
The Israeli military has identified the intelligence officer serving in the Gaza Division on October 7, 2023, as it moves to dismiss officers over failures that allowed the Hamas-led attack. The naming comes amid ongoing army accountability proceedings tied to the deadliest day in Israel's history, with more disciplinary actions expected against commanders who missed warning signs.
Why now: The IDF is taking accountability steps over the October 7 intelligence failures, and naming the officer marks a significant moment in that process.
