The Chicks performed at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, revisiting their defiant musical response two decades after their political stand against the Iraq War upended their careers. The trio, once country's biggest act, was blacklisted after criticizing President George W. Bush in 2003, and their song addressing that backlash remains a focal point of their live shows, drawing attention from fans and local press.
Why now: The band is marking roughly two decades since the controversy that transformed their career, and their current tour is drawing coverage.
