Kennedy to launch $10 million challenge for Presidential Fitness Test in schools
Original: Kennedy to roll out $10 million challenge to encourage Presidential Fitness Test in schools
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is preparing a $10 million challenge aimed at encouraging schools across the United States to reinstate the Presidential Fitness Test, a program long used to measure students' physical fitness. The funding would reward participation in the program, which was largely phased out in favor of more comprehensive fitness assessments in recent years.
Why now: The return of a politically charged, nostalgic fitness-testing program backed by the Kennedy name is drawing attention amid ongoing debates over public health policy.
