NASA plans 5G mobile communications network on the Moon
Original: NASA’s 5G Communication On Moon Will Ensure Astronauts Use Lunar Mobile Phones; Here’s How https:// fed.brid.gy/r/https:
NASA is working on a 5G communications system for the Moon that would let astronauts make calls and use mobile devices on the lunar surface, similar to how phones work on Earth. The technology is intended to support the Artemis programme's goal of a sustained human presence, providing reliable voice, video and data links between lunar bases, rovers and spacesuited astronauts.
Why now: The idea of astronauts using mobile phones on the Moon is striking, and interest in lunar infrastructure is high ahead of upcoming Artemis missions.
