Quantum Internet Prototype Takes Shape in Innsbruck
Researchers in Innsbruck, Austria, are building a prototype quantum internet, work that aims to connect quantum computers and enable ultra-secure communication based on entanglement. The project marks an early step toward networks that could, in principle, transmit information with security guarantees impossible for today's internet. Details beyond the announcement are limited so far.
Why now: Quantum networking is a fast-moving research field, and any prototype milestone draws attention from scientists and technology watchers.
