Original: Latvia's Kulbergs eyes election win as Russia divides society
Latvian politician Kulbergs is seeking victory in the country's election, a vote taking place as Russia's war against Ukraine continues to divide Latvian society. Latvia, which borders Russia and has a large Russian-speaking minority, has seen political tensions sharpen over issues of identity, security and attitudes toward Moscow. The vote is being watched as a test of how far the Russia factor will shape electoral politics in the Baltic state.
Why now: Latvia is holding an election in which Russia's war and its impact on society are the dominant political issue.
