Russia expels Hungarian diplomats from three cities
Original: венгрия
Russia's Foreign Ministry announced it is expelling Hungarian diplomats based in Moscow, St Petersburg and Kazani. The move escalates tensions between the two countries, which have maintained unusual diplomatic contacts despite the war in Ukraine. The reported expulsion is drawing attention across Russian-language media, with readers asking what prompted the decision and how Budapest will respond to the diplomatic rupture.
Why now: The unexpected expulsion of Hungarian diplomats marks a rare escalation with a country that has kept relatively friendly ties with Moscow.
