Original: Troubled Baltimore incinerator will stop burning medical waste under state deal
A state agreement will end the burning of medical waste at a long-troubled Baltimore incinerator, a facility that has drawn years of complaints from residents and environmental groups over air pollution in surrounding neighborhoods. The deal is being welcomed by local advocates as a step toward cleaner air, though questions remain about enforcement and the facility's overall future.
Why now: The state deal marks a concrete concession after years of community pressure over pollution from the facility.
