Ranking the NFL's five most impressive backup quarterbacks

Original: Ranking Marcus Mariota, Case Keenum and the NFL's 5 most impressive backup QBs https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7646704/

The Athletic has published a new ranking of the NFL's five most impressive backup quarterbacks, headlined by Marcus Mariota and Case Keenum. The piece assesses how each reserve has performed when called into action this season. Mariota, once a Heisman winner and franchise starter in Tennessee, and veteran journeyman Keenum are highlighted as standouts among the league's second-string passers.

Why now: Backup quarterbacks have drawn attention as injuries and inconsistent starter play across the NFL have forced reserves into prominent roles.
