Protest Banners and Strike Demands Go on Show from Wages for Housework Archives
Original: Protest Banners and Strike Demands: Inside the Wages for Housework Community Archives
The Wages for Housework campaign's community archives, featuring protest banners, strike demands and decades of feminist organising materials, are being showcased with support from the Mellon Foundation. The collection documents the 1970s international campaign demanding payment for domestic and care work, and is drawing renewed attention as debates over unpaid labour and care work return to public discussion.
Why now: Renewed public interest in unpaid domestic and care labour has put the archive of the historic Wages for Housework campaign back in focus.
