EU countries say migrant return hub plans advancing well
Original: Work on migrant return hubs progressing well, EU countries say
EU member states say work on setting up migrant return hubs is progressing well, according to a report carried by Yahoo News. The hubs are part of EU efforts to speed up returns of rejected asylum seekers, often to third countries. Details on locations and timelines remain limited, and the plan has drawn scrutiny from rights groups and migration policy observers.
Why now: Migration returns and third-country hubs are a live and contentious issue in EU politics, drawing attention whenever member states report progress.
