Battle for Kordofan: corridor linking Sudan's east and west

Original: The battle for Kordofan: The corridor linking Sudan’s east and west

Attention is focused on Sudan's Kordofan region, described as the strategic corridor connecting the country's east and west. Fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces has increasingly shifted toward this area, making control of Kordofan central to the wider war and to supply routes between Darfur and the rest of the country.

Why now: The Sudan war is shifting toward Kordofan, whose control could decide movement between Darfur and eastern Sudan.
