Russian forces have begun attacking Ukraine with drones equipped with protruding 'whisker'-like attachments, according to an adviser to the Ukrainian president. The exact function of these fittings is not yet known, though officials suggest they are definitely not antennae. Ukrainian commentators are speculating the devices may relate to navigation, jamming resistance or new guidance systems as the drone war evolves.
Why now: The appearance of a previously unseen modification on Russian attack drones is raising concern about new battlefield capabilities.
