India and Pakistan set for Asian Games cricket final without handshakes
Original: No handshakes likely as India sets up Asian Games cricket final against Pakistan
India has reached the final of the Asian Games cricket tournament, where it will face Pakistan. Organisers and teams expect the usual pre-match handshakes to be skipped, continuing the practice seen at recent meetings between the two rivals, who play each other rarely outside multi-nation events due to longstanding political tensions.
Why now: An India-Pakistan cricket final is a major sporting occasion, and the absence of handshakes highlights ongoing political tension between the two countries.
