Original: Georgia Ports CEO: Ocean Terminal berth ready for big ships

Georgia Ports Authority's chief executive says a berth at the Ocean Terminal in Savannah is now ready to handle some of the largest container ships calling in the Americas. The announcement points to expanded capacity for big vessels at the busy US East Coast port, which has been investing heavily in terminal upgrades to stay competitive with other Atlantic gateways.

Why now: Port operators and shippers are watching which East Coast terminals can accommodate the ever-larger container vessels now entering service.
