Flydubai attack feeds into Netanyahu's 'protector' narrative ahead of elections
Original: Flydubai attack feeds into Netanyahu’s ‘protector’ narrative with crucial elections approaching
An attack on a Flydubai aircraft is being analysed for its impact on Israeli politics. Commentators argue the incident plays into Benjamin Netanyahu's campaign narrative of himself as the protector of Israeli security, at a moment when crucial elections are approaching. The attack has thus become entangled with domestic electoral politics, with debate over whether it will strengthen or complicate Netanyahu's re-election bid.
Why now: The attack landed shortly before a high-stakes Israeli election in which security is a central campaign theme.
