Pakistan says 22 fighters killed in air strikes on Afghanistan

Pakistan says its air attacks on militant hideouts in Afghanistan's Kunar and Helmand provinces killed 22 fighters. Afghan officials dispute the toll, saying the strikes killed nine civilians, including women, and condemning the violation of its territory. The exchange highlights rising tensions between the two neighbours over cross-border militancy.
Why now: Pakistan's strikes on Afghan soil and the conflicting casualty reports are inflaming tensions between the two countries.
