Developers push back on Android Developer Verification Program
Original: Fuck Android Developer Verification Program
A blunt post rejecting Google's Android Developer Verification Program has drawn hundreds of likes and sparked debate among developers. The program would require identity verification for those distributing Android apps, and critics argue it threatens hobbyist and open-source development, forcing independent developers to register personal details with Google or lose the ability to install their own software.
Why now: Google's developer verification requirements are rolling out and developers fear losing the freedom to sideload and distribute apps anonymously
