Hegseth rallies US troops with base, faith and Musk weapons plans

Original: in an address to hundreds of U.S. troops Wednesday, DoW Sec Hegseth solicited bids to build a new base, called for more

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth addressed hundreds of U.S. troops on Wednesday, soliciting bids to build a new base and calling for greater focus on religion in the military. He also announced that billionaires Elon Musk and Palmer Luckey will help develop next-generation weapons, saying Musk will co-lead the effort. The remarks mix military infrastructure, religion and private tech involvement in defense, drawing wide attention.

Why now: Hegseth's announcement of Musk and Luckey co-leading weapons development and his emphasis on religion are controversial and unusual for a military address.
