Discord rolls out revised age verification after privacy backlash delay

Original: Discord roll out revised age verification following delay due to pushback, pledging to be "safer for teens, same Discord

Discord has launched a revised global age verification system, delayed earlier this year after privacy-focused criticism from users. The company is promoting the rollout with the pledge to make the platform 'safer for teens, same Discord for Adults'. Reaction remains divided, with supporters welcoming stronger protections for younger users while critics continue to question how verification data is collected, stored and protected.

Why now: The revised system directly follows a rare public backlash that forced Discord to delay the rollout, making the compromise newsworthy.
