Bethesda has stated that Obsidian Entertainment, now under its purview alongside fellow Xbox-owned RPG studios, will retain its own "creative identity and strengths". The reassurance comes as Obsidian no longer operates independently within the Microsoft-owned games portfolio, prompting discussion among fans about whether the studio famed for Fallout: New Vegas and The Outer Worlds can preserve its signature style under tighter corporate structure.

Why now: Fans are concerned about creative freedom for Obsidian after it was placed under Bethesda within Xbox's studio structure.
