Rubio orders Iranian UN delegation to leave New York early

Original: Rubio orders visiting Iranian UN delegation to leave NYC ahead of schedule

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has ordered a visiting Iranian delegation to the United Nations to leave New York ahead of schedule. The move, reported widely across US media, comes as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain elevated. It restricts the diplomatic travel of Iranian officials staying in the US for UN business, drawing attention because the US hosts UN headquarters and is generally expected to permit such visits.

Why now: It is an unusual US restriction on a diplomat delegation at UN headquarters amid heightened US-Iran tensions.
